Wicked

So, I heard they were showing this in New York. It's based on the book of the same name. Anyone want to go see it with me next weekend?

Official site is here: http://www.wickedthemusical.com/

It looks extremely cool.

I've been wanting to see that. The current Glinda was a friend of Alison's but we never ended up getting tickets to see her.

Fantastic. *grins* It's been awhile since I saw a Musical and with the regular trips to New York on the weekends, I figure it's time to take advantage of it.

I'll call Alison and see if she can get us discounts or something.

my roommate informs me that I need to be availible and social. I've also heard a rumour about needing more culture.

so I'm chaperoning.

It there's a matinee, we could make it a group outing for the city run, if people like? I'm willing to do the co-chaperone thing with Dani.

There's a regular 2pm showing on Saturday and a 3pm showing on Sunday. So making it a group outing for the City run would be perfect if people are willing.

So gay and so overrated. IMHO, of course.

*blinks* Okaaay. How about I see it for myself first, hmm? I dislike taking anyone else's word on something as subjective as entertainment.

If Randy Harrison were still there, then I'd totally go see it because he is awesome and twinky. The new guy isn't so awesome :(

Unfortunately I have no idea who anyone from New York theatre scene is. *ponders* I suppose I could nod my head knowingly and pretend though. *nods knowingly while sipping a cocktail.* These new people, no idea about what it takes to make real theatre. *huffs in indignation*

Seriously though, is it just because new guy isn't twinky that he's not awesome?

[identity profile] x-pressive.livejournal.com 2006-10-14 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
No, the twinky and awesome are separate. There are plenty of awesome people who aren't twinky, and plenty of twinks who aren't awesome. LOTS of twinks who aren't awesome. Justin Randy just happens to be both.

*ponders some more* So, what defines 'twinky'? And what defines 'awesome'? *takes out notebook* As a young teenager with an impressionable mind I should know these things, you see. *grins* How else to avoid nonawesomeness, afterall? (Why do I suddenly feel like Kyle?)

[identity profile] x-pressive.livejournal.com 2006-10-14 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
Twink is a pretty easy term to define because it's entirely superficial. Cute young gay guys, typically with blond hair, who club all night and get addicted to crystal meth.

But awesome . . . well, that's a pretty deep question, isn't it? I mean, there's awesome on the basic level of cool, awe-inspiring, niftiness. But then there's that real awesome, the kind that makes you go, "Holy fucking shit, that's fucking awesome," you know? And the criteria for these levels are so well defined, because what's awesome to me (Madonna, for example) may not be so awesome to you. In that case you'd be wrong, but you get my point.

You realise of course, that now you have to come. Merely so I can use you as a social experiment in order to get another's opinion on 'awesome'. No, no. No arguing. You've only yourself to blame, afterall.

In other words. Pleeease won't you come? You're fun to talk to and the more the merrier afterall.

I don't know if the PTB want me interacting with the chilluns. I don't come with a mute button or V-Chip.

On the other hand, if you insist . . . ;)

Shh. If you don't tell them you're interacting with impressionable minds and corrupting them to the Dark side of the force, I won't. Besides, Amanda will be there. I don't think you can get more inappropriate language then her in rush hour traffic.
