I met my Dad today and we had lunch.

It was a start, I think. I still don't know how to explain it to my Mom.

Yeah, I just don't want to give her anything to worry about right now. She's still going through radiotherapy for cancer. She'll be alright though, least the doctors are happy with everything so far.

And Dad, seems okay enough. Least, not the complete asshole he was on our first meeting. He's hard to read, I guess. Seems like he wants to try though, which is something.

Doctors know what they're doing, that's why they go to school for ten years, right? If they're happy then she'll be okay.

He was an asshole the first time and you went back after that? You're more forgiving than I'd be.

Well, he came through eventually. I think that deserves a second chance, and he saved my mother's life.

Savin' your mom's life earns the second chance, I guess. I'm just not very forgiving when it comes to abandonment.
