So, if anyone asks why the bird bath that's usually on the west lawn is now on the front one, I know nothing! It was gnomes. Really, really large gnomes.

Jesus, Laurie.

Can you please stop fucking around like this. I don't know if you think it's cute or endearing or what, but it's making you look like a complete and utter tool. Also, like you're some kind of moron.

The custard catapault was downright stupid, hitting Cain with the hotdogs got you what you deserve, and this latest one shows that a) you're running out of ideas and b) that you're some kind of one trick wonder who can't think of anything else to do.

Besides, you're what, 17? Shouldn't you be drinking and hooking up with nice attractive people of whichever gender turns you on, rather than acting like a retarded five year old?

The gnomes feel no need to explain their art to you, Monet.

Laurie, babe, there's art and then there's ...this. Come over here to Aunty Monet and she'll sort you out, mmkay?

*eyes her suspiciously* You're not about to offer me candy or something are you? Because I've heard about strangers and candy.

Candy? Of course not. I was thinking more... culture. How to dress, carry oneself, drink football players under the table. That sort of thing.

I find the idea of gnomes frightening. I find the idea of LARGE gnomes down right heart stopping. And not in the passionate way.

Monet, must you schedule these things for when I am buried under a pile of work and cannot join you?

From: [identity profile] x-m.livejournal.com
It's okay, it's not scheduled yet. It can easily wait until you're less busy.

I think it is our sworn duty to educate the young and.. young.

Maybe you should include cluess on that? I did try to educate Illyana for a while there, but she was ...stubborn.

In my dictionary there is a picture of Illyana next to the word "Stubborn". I taped it there myself.

Really? Is there also one next to socially inept? Because that would be fitting.

Culture sounds...interesting. Although, if this is Australian culture, I'm not sure Marius hasn't already exposed me to some of it. Is football really that important?

I sort of already know how to dress myself, have done since I was old enough to tie my own shoelaces but far be it from me to get in the way of a fashionista and an excuse to shop. Can Jan come?

As to drinking, I'm only 17. I won't be drinking till I'm 21.

Well, I suppose that's a responsible attitude. Alcohol does do a hell of a lot of damage.

That said, doesn't a 21 year old have the potential to do more harm drunk than a 17 year old? I mean, you don't have a huge amount of money (and I'd add a car, except this is America and 12 year olds drive here), so you won't get as plastered as you would, starting at 21.

I honestly don't care about what damage people can and can't do at whatever age. I won't be drinking till I'm 21. End of story.

Because it's illeagal or because drinking isn't your thing? I understand the latter but not drinking when you're allowed to gamble, get married, join the army and vote... it's always seemed like it's saying that you're only old enough to be considered responsible some of the time, even though you're already an adult. It's shit.

I don't see what's all fired great about getting trashed and acting like a complete ass. I don't see what's so great about being so off your face that you'll say a bunch of things that you'd never say while sober and then try to backtrack once you're sober because you were an ass.

And I certainly don't see what's so great about a substance that will completely negate your ability to make a rational decision and make you regret any decisions you did make in the morning.

So no, drinking isn't my thing, and I very much doubt I'd be doing much of it when I am finally of legal age to drink.

However, to answer your question, it's a little of both. I don't agree with drinking before it's legal to do so. These days I don't particularly care whether other people choose to follow as you call it 'silly' laws. But I can control what I do. And I choose not to break them.

You know, I must have been a pretty unnatural teenager, because I honestly don't remember spending quite as much time as some of you do railing at the injustice of the drinking laws. I mean, not trying to quash your fun here - go ahead and rail.

There you go, trying to fool them into thinking you were a teenager. We know you sprung full-grown from the Professor's head sometime in the late '90s. It's in the files.

See, I always figured that if you wanted to get into trouble as a teenager there were more creative and entertaining things to do than sneaking alcohol. But then, I also preferred going fast to getting drunk, so I may be biased.

I, personally, have never encountered an alcohol that smelled more appealing to me than raw entrails.

Granted, I mind raw entrails less than most, even in human form.

At some point I suppose I might need to learn to drink a little without either being drunk or, er, making faces. In case either courtesy or water safety should require it.

If Laurie wants to play the prank, that is up to her, is it not? I think there have been too many people telling her how to be acting.

Be that as it may, it is still the law here, and no matter Laurie's reasoning, it is her choice to make and I respect her for it.

From: [identity profile] x-juggernaut.livejournal.com
Simple fact is, from the law's perspective, you have to set the bar somewhere. You ain't supposed to smoke before you're 18 or drink before you're 21 in most places here. It happens, but that don't mean that it ain't breaking the law, whether or not you think it's a good one. Regardless of whether you think it's fair or not, breaking it's going to cause trouble and part of acting like an adult is deciding when that trouble's worth it.

That being said, there's a lot of you folks here from countries with different laws, and that might be all fine and dandy. But while you're here, you're going to be expected to act like an adult and try and avoid trouble when you can. Act like a grown-up, get treated like a grown-up. Act like a child, get treated like a child.

Which also means that "the gnomes" had better move that damn birdbath back where they found it, or they'll find out that the chandelier ain't the highest place folks can be dangled from.

The gnomes did - after they got pictures of it.
