Things to do before Laurie Collins World Tour 2009

Things to be crossed off or added to as I remember them.

* Talk to my college and let them know I'm taking the year off to go backpacking.

* Con, I mean convince people to go on the Contiki tour leg of the journey with me. Anyone up for that? Information about it is here. http://contiki.com.au/tours/160-ultimate-european Meeting in London first week of March, I believe.

* Talk to Scott about taking a leave of absence from X-men training for a year.

* Buying plane tickets and working out hostels to stay in/buying camping gear and the like.

* Finding a store in Salem Center that sells huge backpacks of doom.

* Getting a good bill of health from the doctors so I can finally start getting this stuff done.

* Talk to Master Lee about taking a year of Martial arts training (Oh God, oh God.)

* Make sure I have all my shots. Jean?

* Get visas/passport all sorted.

* Figure out what clothing to take.

* Get Crystal to show me around Attilan when I head up there at the end of the Contiki tour.

Hmm, can't think of any more. Help?

Well, not an entire year, maybe most of it. At least till possibly August anyhow. There's going to be an epic road trip tour of Canada and American once I'm done with Europe and the middle east. I would try to get in Asia as well but I don't think I can fit it in.

- Do not buy a backpack from any store that won't let you weight test it first.

- You cannot have too many pairs of clean socks.

- A folding cup and a set of earplugs are essential equipment.

- It will rain on you the day you forget to put your travel papers in plastic.

- Hostel was only a movie.

-Get money before you leave
Most places take credit cards or debit cards and those will give you the best rates. But sometimes you need cash. Those places on the street that post those really good rates? Usually not so great. Banks are good. But like seriously, if you land somewhere and you don't have any local currency it can be a total hassle. But! Euro! So like once you're in the Eurozone you are set.

Get another copy of your cards so they can be courierd out to you, just in case. And traveller's cheques or something like that, since emergency money is always good.

Yeah, but you get some prepaid ones to keep for in case your real ones go missing.
