RIP Beloved Pablo

The cat conversation a little further down has reminded me of the death of my beloved Pablo during what is now called M-day.

I have decided that the time has come to bring a new pet into my life. Now, what sort of pet? Well may you ask!

I have narrowed it down after an exhaustive look at all sorts of pets. Obviously fish are out due to childhood trauma. (Don't ask.) Snakes and other reptiles unfortunately view me as a tasty morsel worth biting at the least opportunity, so they're out.

Foxes and Wolfdogs require licensing that is both intensive and liable to bring way too much attention.

I'd love a sweet little sugar glider but Marius would subject me to a lecture about owning Australian native animals, and who needs that?

Fluffy chickens while pretty are not cuddly and I'm not a rabbit fan (Bunnies while cute, are just not me. )

Hamster...is a possibility, or an owl? Maybe a falcon or some form of bird of prey? But, licensing again. Also, much more likely to eat Marie-Ange's mice.

Ferret perhaps? Although I'm told they smell, and while I have air scrubbers in my room for myself, I don't think I'd want to subject Doug to that, or worry about the air scrubbers becoming overused.

A cat and dog? Just a kitten? I don't have to worry so much about socialization given the other animals around here. Now that I'm grounded until a solution can be found for my lack of an arm, I'm a little more here rather then racing about as well.

I think I've settled on a cat though.

If your below post is any indication, you appear to feel quite strongly about rescue animals. Is there a reason you have not yourself acquired one? I merely ask as if I am to go to the local cat shelter in order to obtain one, you may come with me should you wish. (Or is a dog more your temperament?)

Artie does not have a cat for the same reason there are approximately eighteen people here with detailed instructions on how to feed mice. Gone too often to properly take care of an animal. The mice at least do not need socialization, they socialize themselves.

I speak like this due to the fact that this is the way I speak. I would think you could find something a little less petty to pick at me with than 'you speak funny' if you were really trying.

However, I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you are unaware of being aggressive for no apparent reason and let it pass.

I apologize for assuming your interest in other peoples pet choices was due to your own desire for one.

Laurie, Arties totes correct. Get a shelter cat. Get a cat that needs you instead of like some fancy rich people cat.

and if you get a foxdogwolfthing ima pick you up, remove your weird little stump cover and then throw you into the pool and see if you can swim one-handed. foxwolfdogthings need to be left wild.

Your idea intrigues me but I'm forced to ponder whether I'm truly ready to become a mad cat lady. I could possibly justify getting a kitten shelter cat, and possibly an old man cat who I could make you cat sit when you're here. (Because you need an old man cat, he'll keep you honest. ) But Doug might protest me suddenly coming home with an entire pride of cats.

Even if I could train them up to be my minions of unspeakable cuteness.
