Seriously?

The amount of times I've wanted to nap - and I'm not even a resident yet.
People seriously need to understand everything that goes into being a good doctor.
It's not like you show up and they just give you scrubs.
I've been studying to be one since I was a teenager - the amount of things I had to give up, and if do it again because it's what I was meant to do with my life.
So, fuck the assholes who told this resident that she wasn't doing her job.

Date: 2015-05-21 12:13 pm (UTC)That's a somewhat scary thought.

Date: 2015-05-21 01:01 pm (UTC)For the first month it sucks but then it gets better. I find myself catching up on sleep as much as I can when I'm off, though. To the people who say you can sleep when your dead they weren't in the medical profession.

Date: 2015-05-20 10:36 pm (UTC)Although, I thought most hospitals had some sort of bunkroom for doctors to sleep if needed? Or was that just some daydream I picked up from my old roommates soap opera obsession?

Date: 2015-05-21 12:18 pm (UTC)There is also the fact that medical facilities in different parts of the world have different facilities and amenities. When I was younger, before I'd started Medschool I was in a group of volunteers in a hot zone. Things like triage and treatment of those in a war zone don't always lend themselves to the best of conditions.
Either way, the last thing this young doctor needed was some sort of public shaming for grabbing some nap time.

Agreed.
